Vehicles are fit-for-purpose and converted specially to meet the needs of our patients: the fleet can safely take wheelchairs and/or stretchers as required for the patient. Our crew are all trained to our minimum standards, and many are qualified to FPOS intermediate level.

Bariatric Ambulance Transfers

All crew members are appropriately trained in the use of advanced moving and handling equipment, ensuring every journey is carried out professionally and safely.
We provide a wide range of bariatric transport solutions, including wheelchair transfers, stretcher transfers, HDU bariatric transport, and home-to-hospital transfers. Our experienced teams are also trained to manage stair access and challenging property layouts where required.
For larger patients, we carry out detailed assessments to ensure the correct vehicle, equipment, and crew configuration are allocated for each transfer. Depending on the patient’s clinical and mobility needs, bariatric transfers can range from a 2-person crew to a 6-person specialist team for patients up to 42 stone (262kg).
All of our bariatric stretchers, wheelchairs, and stair climbers are rated to support patients up to 62 stone (400kg). Our specialist bariatric ambulances are equipped with a range of mobility and handling equipment, including bariatric stretchers, bariatric wheelchairs, bariatric stair climbers, and scoop stretchers, allowing us to provide safe and reliable transport in a wide range of situations.
